This season Alexander Wang and the design team at Balenciaga went to Guetaria on Spain's Basque coast where Cristobal Balenciaga was born. Here they gathered their primarily research, studying the coutrier's work at the Cristobal Balenciaga Museoa. I never visited the Basque Country when I lived in Spain which seems absurd now looking back. The museum looks incredible.
The resort collection is presented in a creative way with stunning imagery showcasing mulitiple angles of the garments. Cocoon tops and soft orgami folds demonstrate reworkings of the master of haute couture. The monochrome palette is strengthend with textural fabrications and 'scramble' prints. I for one am excited by Wang's second collection, what are your thoughts?
